A 1980 Oban Distillers Edition, a single malt Scotch whisky that was double matured in Montilla Fino sherry casks.
The nose is deep and complex, with grassy and floral notes, chalk and wax, and over time oranges and passion fruit. The palate starts sweet, almost liqueur-like, before a gradual bitterness arrives, with green tea, tobacco, candied ginger, cloves and nutmeg.
The finish is warming and coating, of medium length, turning spicier and slightly drying. The whisky has a deep copper colour.
