Old Forester 100 Proof is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Brown-Forman in Louisville. The brand was founded in 1870 by George Garvin Brown and describes itself as America's first bottled bourbon.
The mash bill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. It is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) in a 750ml bottle.
The nose combines caramel, vanilla and dried cherry with rye spice, toasted oak and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, caramel and vanilla lead into rye spice, dark fruit, cinnamon and pepper. The finish is medium to long, with warm rye spice, vanilla and oak, and a clean, dry close.
