Old Forester 1870 Original Batch is a Kentucky bourbon and the first expression in the Old Forester Whiskey Row Series. It marks 1870, the year George Garvin Brown established Old Forester on Whiskey Row in Louisville. It follows Brown's original batching method, in which he combined barrels from three distilleries for a consistent flavour. Here, barrels are chosen from three warehouses, each from a different day of production, with varying entry proofs and age profiles, and the three are then blended. It is bottled at 90 proof and minimally filtered, in keeping with the techniques available to Brown at the time.
