Old Potrero California Cellar Series #02 is a rye whiskey made from 100% malted rye, distilled in copper pot stills in San Francisco. It is bottled at 56.8% ABV in a 700ml bottle and is 7 years and 3 months old in total.
The base rye rested just under six years in toasted American oak, then spent 17 months finishing in Sonoma Portworks Petite Sirah port barrels. It was released in October 2024 as a limited edition, following the Silver Oak Cabernet-finished #01 in the series.
The nose is deep caramel, rich vanilla, cooked fruit and cacao. The palate has sweet rye, cinnamon, nuts and bright cherry wood, and the finish brings grape cola, grape leaf tang and spiced rye warmth.
