Old Pulteney – 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

Old Pulteney 12 year old is a single malt from the distillery at Wick, on the north-east coast of Scotland, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in hand-selected, air-dried ex-bourbon casks. The distillery was built in 1826 at the height of the herring boom. Large boil balls and a preference for ex-bourbon barrels give a fragrant, complex style with salty notes. In the glass, bright citrus and honey meet creamy vanilla and a light North Sea brininess. The palate is sweet and lively, leading to a long, coastal finish.
