Old Pulteney – 25 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

Old Pulteney 25 Year Old is a Highland single malt, an original bottling from the Pulteney distillery in Wick, bottled at 46%. It spends its first 22 years in ex-bourbon casks of American oak, then moves into Spanish Oloroso sherry casks until it reaches 25 years. The bourbon casks bring spicy sweetness and vanilla, while the Oloroso adds depth, colour and dried fruit. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose opens with zesty citrus and tropical fruit, followed by ripe wood. On the palate come cinnamon, nutmeg and dark chocolate with spicy warmth, and the finish is long and distinctly maritime.
