Old Smuggler (70cl, 40%)

Old Smuggler is a blended Scotch whisky made from malt and grain whiskies from the Highlands, the Lowlands and Islay. Nearly forty individual whiskies are married together, and they are matured in oak casks. It is bottled at 40%, chill-filtered and with added colour. The brand dates from 1835, when James and George Stodart founded their whisky business. Its name recalls illicit distilling before the Excise Act of 1823 and the smugglers who shaped that trade. The nose shows vanilla, caramel and sponge, with floral notes, cinnamon and clove. The palate is creamy and full, with honey, vanilla and caramel. The medium finish ends on honey and vanilla.
