Ondjaba The Namibian Whiskey Signature Edition #1 (70cl, 54.5%)

A single grain whiskey from the Erongo Mountain Winery in Namibia, made from mahangu millet, barley, wheat and maize smoked over dried elephant dung. It matured first in the winery's red wine casks. One half then received a finish in its own brandy casks and the other in sherry-style fortified Chenin Blanc casks. Signature Edition #1 is a limited release of 2,280 bottles, bottled at cask strength, 54.5%, without chill-filtering or colouring. The nose offers sponge cake, maple syrup and dried apricot, with a little bacon and roast gravy. Nutmeg and clove open the palate, followed by brandy pudding, dried fruit and leathery oak. The finish keeps smoke, dried fruit, dark cocoa and toasted wood, ending slightly dry.
