Overeem – Sherry Cask Matured Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 60%)

This is a cask strength single malt from Overeem, a Tasmanian distillery founded in 2005 by Casey Overeem. Since 2019 it has been run as a family business by Casey's daughter Jane and her husband Mark Sawford. The whisky is matured in sherry casks and bottled at 60% in a 70cl bottle. Sherry casks have a history here: the first barrel ever filled at Overeem was a sherry cask, chosen by Casey in admiration of Scottish producers. The whisky is dark, viscous and rich. The nose has dark chocolate, black treacle, Christmas spices and toasted nuts. The palate is softer, with toffee, maple syrup and homemade jam. The finish is long, with lightly charred almonds, subtle cocoa and stewed dried fruits.
