Paul John Oloroso Select Cask is an Indian single malt from Goa, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It was first matured in American oak, then finished in Oloroso sherry casks from Spain. The warm Goan climate speeds the exchange between spirit and wood.
The nose brings toasted almonds, dark berries, toffee, leather and spice cake. On the palate it is full-bodied and smooth, with stewed fruits, caramelised sugar, clove and roasted nuts. The finish is long, with sherried spice, dried apricot and oak tannins fading to warmth.
