This is an Indian single malt from Paul John, distilled in Goa and bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in handpicked Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and is non-chill-filtered.
The PX casks give the whisky a dark, sweet and richly textured character, and it is part of the Select Cask range.
The nose opens with dried figs, Christmas cake and maple syrup, followed by dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts and a touch of coastal brine. The palate is rich and syrupy, with rum-soaked raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon bark and soft spice. The finish is long, with molasses, dark fruit and warm oak.
