Peloton de la Muerte Pechuga is a vegan mezcal from Guerrero, Mexico, made by mezcalero Rodolfo Obregón in Mazatlán and bottled at 45.1% in a 75cl bottle. The base is a field blend of two wild agaves, Maguey Criollo and Maguey Ancho, roasted and distilled together. In the second distillation in an Arabic-style copper still, a basket of oranges, mandarins, mint, anise and cinnamon hangs in the still head in place of the traditional chicken breast. The nose is bright with orange peel, mandarin and a little anise and mint. The palate is juicy with grapefruit, orange and lemon, and the finish is medium-long, dry and clean, with grapefruit pith and mint.
