Port Charlotte PC6 is a six-year-old Islay single malt, distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2007 at 61.6%. The peat level is 40ppm, and the release is limited to 18,000 bottles. Madeira casks contribute to its character.
Cuairt-beatha is Gaelic for the walk of life, and the name recognises the work of the distillery staff.
The nose combines malt, peat and young spirit with green apple, mint, clove, bay leaf and forest greenwood, then vanilla, smoke and Madeira-cask dates and raisins. The palate brings smoke, sweet citrus and a spray of spindrift.
