Port Ellen – 1978 24 Year Old Special Releases 2002 2nd Release (70cl, 59.4%)

This is a Port Ellen distilled in 1978 and bottled in 2002 at 24 years old. It was the second Port Ellen to appear in Diageo's annual Special Releases. It is an Islay single malt from a distillery bottling, in a 70cl bottle. It was bottled at its natural cask strength of 59.35%. The whisky is characterised by a fierce austerity together with great depth of flavour.
