A 25-year-old Port Ellen from the 1978 vintage, released in 2004 as the 4th Release in the Special Releases series from the distillery's owner, Diageo. It is an Islay single malt bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.2% in an edition of 5100 bottles. This release has the coastal, petroleum-like power of the earlier bottlings in the series, with hints of the elegance and complexity that became more prominent in later releases. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
