Refill sherry butt
This is a 33 year old single malt from Port Ellen, the closed Islay distillery. It was distilled in 1979 and bottled in 2013 by Gordon & MacPhail, after maturing in refill sherry butts. Only 654 bottles were produced. The bottling combines delicate peat with marine and fruity notes, and sits in the Gordon & MacPhail Rare Old range. The nose is fruity, with pear, apple, pineapple and lemon wrapped in peat, alongside ginger, white pepper, a saline touch and seaweed. The palate brings coconut, liquorice, nutmeg and camphor, and the finish is long, with cocoa, smoked fish and a mineral, salty aftertaste.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
