Refill hogshead
A 36-year-old Islay single malt from Port Ellen, in a 70cl bottle at a cask strength of 56.6%. It was distilled in May 1979 and bottled in September 2015 by Douglas Laing for its Xtra Old Particular series. The distillery has since closed. The whisky comes from a single refill hogshead that gave 227 bottles. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered. The nose is complex and subtle, lightly peated, with fresh fruit and a little soot. The palate has a syrupy texture, with candied fruit, lime peel and biscuits, plus clear oak and more soot. The finish is long, warm and spicy, with some smoke.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
