Refill sherry butt
A 42-year-old Islay single malt from Port Ellen, distilled on 28 January 1981 and matured in a single refill sherry butt, cask 290. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 6 February 2023 at 52.5% ABV for its Recollection Series, in an edition of 181 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. When it was released, it was the oldest Port Ellen Gordon & MacPhail had offered. The sherry cask brings dark fruit and pastry notes with sweet smoke, alongside chocolate, spice and peanut brittle. The nose has dark chocolate, ginger and cinnamon, with blackcurrant giving way to Medjool dates and sweet vanilla. The palate offers rich fruit cake, baked apples and sweet smoke, then peanut brittle, dark cherry and peppery spice. The finish is long and full, with dried fruit and campfire embers.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
