This is a 24 year old Port Ellen distilled in 1978 and bottled in 2002 by Diageo. It is the second Port Ellen in the company's annual Special Releases series, a limited edition from an Islay distillery that stopped producing in 1983. It comes in a 70cl bottle. The nose is floral, with hints of lavender and a peaty note. The palate is very chewy, with pipe tobacco, Parma violet and more lavender. The finish is big and lingers for a very long time.
