Raasay – The Chinkapin

The Chinkapin is a single malt from Raasay, the third release in the Isle of Raasay Core Range, launched in February 2026. It is made from Diablo and Laureate barley, a mix of peated spirit (48 to 52 ppm) and unpeated spirit, matured separately. The spirit was distilled between April 2021 and November 2022. All of it was matured in chinkapin oak casks, first fill and refill, with a high toast and heavy char. In the bottle it is lightly peated, at roughly 6 to 11 ppm. It is gently peaty with hints of wood smoke, finely sweet with maple syrup, and has rich barbecue notes. Bright lime fruit adds freshness, with a touch of savory spice.
