Rare Hare "Tempest" is a 20-year-old single malt from Tasmania, selected for the Rare Hare Prestige Collection. It is made from malted barley and distilled in copper pot stills.
Most of its maturation took place in ex-bourbon casks, with a finishing period in fortified wine casks. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The nose combines dried apricot, peach compote, vanilla cream and citrus peel with polished oak. The palate is velvety, with stewed stone fruit, honeyed malt, toffee, orange marmalade and nutmeg. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, soft spice and sweet oak.
