This is a straight rye whiskey from Redemption, finished in rum barrels and bottled at 47% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is Batch 3.
The base is Redemption's rye mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Master Blender Dave Carpenter finished it in both Jamaican and Barbadian rum barrels, and the two kinds of cask shape different parts of the whiskey.
The nose offers dried stone fruit such as apricot and persimmon, with clover honey and baking spice. The Barbadian casks bring a warming richness early on the palate, while the Jamaican casks add an earthy, fruity note towards the end. The finish is light, with golden raisins and a little Ceylon cinnamon.
