Reservoir Founder's Rye is a Virginia rye whisky made from a mash bill of 100% locally sourced Virginia rye. It is aged in custom-made, heavily charred quarter-casks and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) in a 75cl bottle.
The quarter-casks bring dark caramel, thick oak and dark chocolate alongside the spicy rye. The nose is earthy, with freshly baked rye bread, dark cocoa, barrel char and black pepper. On the palate, cinnamon and rye grain meet dark brown sugar, molasses and toasted vanilla. The finish is long and dry, with a lingering spicy oak character.
