Reservoir Wheat is a Virginia wheat whiskey, here matured in 20-litre quarter casks with an alligator char. This is batch 1, bottled in 2022 at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with natural colour.
Reservoir uses a single grain in each whiskey, and all the raw materials come from Virginia, with the grain supplied by farmers near the distillery. It is produced in small batches, with open-top fermentation, and malting, bottling and the wax seal are all done by hand.
The nose is described as port, a hint of oak, honey and caramel. The palate is velvety and sweet without being cloying, with perfumed rose petal notes, and the finish brings orange peel, herbal and honeyed notes.
