Ron Malecon Rare Proof 2014 (43.2%)

A 2014 vintage rum from Malecon's Rare Proof series, bottled at cask strength. It is intense in both aroma and flavour, with notes of salted caramel, toffee, butterscotch, a hint of smoke and vanilla. The alcohol is well integrated, with plenty of oak notes coming through, and the rum has a classic dry Cuban style without being out of balance. A pleasant sweetness is balanced by the alcohol. It has plenty of character and can be used in cocktails needing some dilution, such as an Old Fashioned, garnished with orange or lemon peel.
