Rounagle Armagnac 1964 (70cl, 43%)

This is a 1964 Armagnac from Rounagle, distilled in the Armagnac region of France and matured for more than fifty years in oak casks. It comes in a wooden presentation box. The long time in wood has given it a deep amber colour and a layered aroma of vanilla, cocoa and dried fruit, with spice and sweet tobacco behind. On the palate it is velvety and robust, gently sweet at first before it opens out. The finish is long and warm, with savoury, aromatic flavours lingering.
