Royal Brackla – 18 Year Old (70cl)

This is Royal Brackla 18 Year Old, a single malt Scotch whisky from the Highlands, in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in once-used PX and Oloroso sherry casks. The distillery stands on the Cawdor estate, about 6.5 kilometres from Nairn, and was built in 1812 by Captain William Fraser. It was the first distillery in Scotland to be granted the Royal title, by King William IV, and its whisky became known as The King's Own Whisky. A fermentation of up to eighty hours is credited for the complexity and fruitiness of the malt, which is described as rich and fruity with a full, powerful character.
