This is a 21 year old Highland single malt from Royal Brackla, finished in three types of sherry cask: Oloroso, Palo Cortado and Pedro Ximénez. It is bottled at 46% without chill-filtration or added colouring.
Royal Brackla was founded in 1833 and was the first Scottish distillery to receive the Royal title, from King William IV. Each cask type adds something different here: Oloroso brings nutty spice and dried fruit, Palo Cortado a fine structure, and Pedro Ximénez sweetness and dark fruit.
The nose offers ripe raspberries, black cherries and cinnamon. The palate is silky, with blackberry, elderberry, winter spices and muscovado sugar, and the finish is long, fruity and oaky.
