Royal Salute 21 Year Old in the blue bottle is a blended Scotch whisky from Chivas Brothers, in a 70cl bottle at 40% abv. The label gives 1801 as the year it was established.
The nose opens with sweet pears, baked apples and ripe fruit alongside autumn flowers, over vanilla, caramel, a hint of sherry cask and the faintest trace of smoke.
The palate is silky and velvety, with sweet orange marmalade, fresh fruit, ginger and cinnamon, then hazelnuts and toasted walnuts. The finish is long and warm, dry and lightly spiced, with a herbal touch and a gentle smoky note from the wood.
