Royal Salute The Signature Blend is a blended Scotch whisky in which the youngest whisky is at least 21 years old. This version comes in a 70cl bottle at 40%, in the brand's sapphire blue ceramic flagon, a colour that recalls the jewels of the British crown.
The recipe was created in 1953 for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and has stayed the same since. The name refers to the 21-gun salute.
On the nose are sweet pear and citrus, delicate autumn blossom, vanilla, dry oak, restrained sherry notes and a touch of smoke. The palate opens with orange marmalade and fresh pear, then strong spice and hazelnut, with soft smoke behind. The finish is long, dry and lightly spiced.
