A 21-year-old blended Scotch whisky from Royal Salute, in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV. The brand was created in 1953 to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and its name comes from the 21-gun salute fired at the Tower of London. The blend includes whiskies kept in the Royal Salute Vault, and none in it is younger than 21 years.
It comes in a porcelain flagon glazed in sapphire blue, which stands for the stones set in the Imperial State Crown.
The nose is fruity, with sweet pears, citrus and autumn flowers, then vanilla, dry oak and hints of sherry and smoke. On the palate come orange marmalade and pears, then spices, hazelnuts and a light smokiness.
