Royal Salute 32 Year Old Union of the Crowns is a blended Scotch whisky in a 50cl bottle at 40% ABV, released as a tribute to 1603, when King James VI joined three kingdoms to form the modern British monarchy.
The blend draws on whiskies aged for over 32 years from Tormore, Glen Keith and Longmorn, together with Lochside and Caperdonich, two distilleries that have long since closed. It comes in a porcelain flagon with a hand-hammered silver plaque and a black stone set on a silver crown, its long neck decorated with a rose, a thistle and a shamrock.
The nose is rich and fruity, and the palate offers soft caramel toffee, dark chocolate and orange with a touch of ginger cake.
