Sagamore Spirit Cask Strength is a Maryland-style straight rye whiskey, bottled at barrel proof, 56.1% ABV, in a 750ml bottle. It blends two rye mashbills from MGP in Indiana: one of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, the other of 51% rye and 49% malted barley. The whiskeys are between four and seven years old.
Water from the Sagamore Farm Spring House, filtered through limestone, is used to bring the blend to strength.
The nose is dark chocolate, cinnamon, clove and vanilla. The palate adds caramel, honeysuckle, citrus, spearmint, black pepper and cardamom over brown sugar and honey. The finish is long and warming, with pepper, vanilla and a trace of blueberry.
