Sato Shiki 41 Year Old is a limited edition Japanese single grain whisky, bottled at 40% in a 750ml bottle. It was matured for more than four decades in white oak, Limousin oak and sherry barrels.
The Sato distillery stands in Miyazaki Prefecture and was founded in 1905. Its whisky is distilled in the Sato Still, designed by Junji Mizue in 1989, which draws on a 500-year-old Japanese method of distillation.
The nose offers roasted malt and subtle vanilla. The palate combines oak, dark chocolate and sweet raisins, leading to a silky finish of dried fruit and toffee.
