A 34-year-old Highland single malt from Scapa, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It was matured in a single bourbon barrel, and 87 bottles were produced at 48.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Scapa is the only distillery to use a Lomond still, and its long fermentation gives a prominent fruitiness that American oak enhances.
The nose has spicy ginger, honey and ripe exotic fruit, with lighter citrus, dried apricot and aniseed. The palate is sweet and creamy, with white chocolate, zesty orange and ripe white peach, plus a prickle of black pepper. The finish is long, with butterscotch, oak and delicate herbal notes.
