Scapegrace – Anthem Single Malt (70cl, 46%)

Anthem is a New Zealand single malt from Scapegrace, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The barley is smoked with manuka wood chips instead of peat, and the whisky then spends three years in new French oak. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The smoke and the cask together bring smoked apple, walnut spice, cider fruit and sweet hay. The nose combines apple wood shavings with Calvados notes and green tea. On the palate, spicy walnut meets cider apple and sweet hay. The medium-length finish brings apple syrup, brown sugar, molasses and liquorice root.
