Sierra Norte Black Corn Mexican Whiskey (75cl, 45%)

Sierra Norte Black Corn is a Mexican single-barrel whiskey distilled in Oaxaca from native black heirloom corn, bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The mash is 85% black corn and 15% malted barley, fermented openly with natural yeast and distilled twice, first in a stainless pot still and then in a slow copper pot still. It is aged for a minimum of two years in French oak under master distiller Douglas French, and each bottle carries its barrel and bottle number. The nose offers roasted maize, cocoa powder and a little cinnamon over toasted French oak. The palate is full and chewy, with dark caramel, dried fig, clove and a hint of smoky oak. The finish is long and warming, fading to baking spice and sweet oak.
