Sierra Norte Single Barrel Purple Corn Whiskey (75cl, 45%)

This is a single barrel whiskey from Sierra Norte Distillery in Oaxaca, Mexico, made under Master Distiller Douglas French. It is bottled at 45% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The mash bill is 85% heritage purple corn and 15% malted barley, double distilled in a copper pot still. The whiskey is aged for a minimum of 10 months in a single French oak barrel. The tasting notes describe pepper, star anise, dry nuttiness and peanut shells on the nose. The palate brings stewed apple, redcurrant, pomegranate and cranberry, with background spices and a late caramel sweetness. The finish is marked by clove and red liquorice.
