Sierra Norte White Corn is a Mexican whiskey made in the Sierra Norte mountains of Oaxaca. The mash is 85% white corn and 15% malted barley. The white corn grown in the region has about three times the sugar of ordinary corn.
After distillation the whiskey spends around ten months in French oak before bottling. Master distiller Douglas French works closely with local farmers who grow and harvest the corn.
The nose brings buttered corn on the cob, roasted herbs and peanuts. The palate is sweet, soft and refreshing, followed by a finish of burnt toast and pepper.
