This is a 32 year old Mortlach from Speyside, bottled by Signatory Vintage to mark its own 35th anniversary. It was distilled on 14 May 1991 and matured in a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, then bottled on 4 October 2023 at a natural cask strength of 54.1%. Only 580 bottles were produced from the single cask.
Mortlach's rich, weighty character comes with concentrated fruit, sherry richness and mature oak.
Ripe fruit, sultanas, orange blossom and beeswax mark the nose. The palate is full and expansive, with orange, dark fruit and nutty sherry, and the finish is long, with walnuts, warming spice and herbs.
