A 9-year-old single malt from Laphroaig on Islay, bottled by Signatory Vintage as a single cask in its Cask Strength Collection. This is cask 8, from which 277 bottles were filled at 61.2%.
The whisky was distilled in 2016 and matured in a first-fill bourbon cask. It is a smoky, medicinal and maritime Islay malt, with peat joined by vanilla, citrus and gentle wood.
On the nose, peat smoke and medicinal notes meet seaweed, sea salt and lemon, with vanilla and sweet malt behind. The palate is oily and smoky, with lemon peel, honey and malt, and the finish is long and warming with pepper and sea salt.
