This is a Mortlach from Signatory Vintage, part of its 100 Proof Edition. It was distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2024 after eleven years in first-fill and second-fill Oloroso sherry butts, at 57.1%. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colour.
Mortlach is known as The Beast of Dufftown for its rich, firm spirit.
The nose has dark raisins, plums, candied orange peel and roasted nuts, with leather, cigar box, chocolate, cinnamon and clove. The palate shows dried fruit, figs and walnuts in a full, oily texture. The finish is long and warm, with dark chocolate, espresso and a little smoke.
