A 19 year old single malt from Singleton of Dufftown, distilled in 2001 and bottled as part of Diageo's 2021 Special Releases.
The whisky first matured in refill American oak casks and was then finished in ex-cognac casks. Dufftown distillery sits in the town of the same name in the heart of Speyside and opened in 1896.
The nose is of dried fruit, figs, apricots, orange peel, fruitcake, vanilla marzipan and butter. On the palate come dry oak, green apples, grapes and coconut, followed by ginger, beeswax and a touch of smoke in the finish.
