This is a 15 year old Singleton of Glen Ord, released as The Enchantress of the Ruby Solstice in the 2022 Diageo Special Release series. Glen Ord stands on the Black Isle, and eight years of this whisky's maturation took place in wine casks.
The nose is dry and vinous, with oak shavings, beech, tart red berries, creamy vanilla and a hint of wax. The palate is smooth and mouth-filling, barley-sugar sweet with a pinch of salt, turning tart with gooseberry and crisp grape. The finish is long and drying, with lingering pepper heat and silky spice.
