This is Singleton of Glen Ord 18 Year Old, part of the Diageo Special Releases of 2019. It was bottled at a cask strength of 55% and matured for 18 years in freshly charred American oak hogsheads.
It is described as a lively whisky, rich in fruit and spiced oak.
The nose is delicate, with crushed apricots, raspberry jam on scones with cream, chocolate-covered cherries, peach, cereal and a hint of wet leaves. On the palate, notes recalling Grande Champagne Cognac lead, with leather, apricot and mint, then spice and oak and a tangy citrus that balances the sweetness. The finish brings vanilla pods, lingering fruit and twisting spice.
