A single cask bourbon from Smooth Ambler, chosen from cask 2956 for the Antipodes edition of La Distillerie Générale, a Pernod Ricard spirits collection. It was distilled in 2016, matured for six years in a new virgin oak barrel at Cove Creek in West Virginia, and bottled in August 2022 at a cask strength of 62.5% in a 35cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The mash is 71% corn, 21% rye and 8% malted barley, distilled on a Vendôme column still.
The nose offers apricot, apple blossom, nuts and honey, with dark chocolate and ginger as it opens. The palate is dense yet lean, with guava, mango, persimmon and praline. The finish is long, with banana, lychee, dried apricot and candied ginger.
