Speyside Peated / Smoke on the Spey 10 Year Old 2013 Oloroso Sherry Cask – Claxton's Exploration Series (70cl, 50%)

This is a peated Speyside blended malt, distilled on 19 February 2013 and bottled on 15 February 2024 at ten years old. It was chosen by the independent bottler Claxton's for its Exploration Series, and is described as a limited edition. The whisky matured in an Oloroso sherry hogshead. It is bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and in its natural colour. The nose is smoky shortbread with white pepper and vanilla. On the palate, dry smoke meets Oloroso sweetness in an oily texture, with dark fruit from the sherry cask set against the coastal smokiness.
