Spiritfilled Mythical Beasts East London Liquor Co Cask 455 (70cl, 59.5%)

This is a single cask single malt from East London Liquor Co, bottled by Spiritfilled in its Mythical Beasts range. It is the release themed around the Stratford Lyon, a legendary antlered lion from English folklore. The whisky was matured in a NEOC red wine barrique and bottled at a cask strength of 59.5%, with natural colour and without chill filtration. In the glass it is a warm copper with orange depths. The nose is saline and mineral, with croissants, custard, toasted nuts and a touch of bitter almond. The palate has a sharp sweetness, fresh bread and almond paste. The finish carries that sweetness with a little pink peppercorn. With water, the notes move towards crème anglaise, fudge, toasted oats and brown sugar.
