Springbank – 10 Year Old Fino Sherry Cask (70cl, 55%)

This Springbank is a 10 year old Campbeltown single malt from the distillery's limited Sherry Wood Series, in a 70cl bottle at a cask strength of 55% ABV. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It spent about four years in ex-bourbon casks, then six years in Fino sherry casks. Fino is aged under flor yeast, which gives dry almond, saline and mineral notes rather than sweetness. The spirit is Springbank's 2.5 times distilled, lightly peated style. The nose brings citrus zest, sea spray, almond and light vanilla. The palate is structured, with lemon, green apple, nutty sherry and subtle peat. The finish is long and dry, with saline minerality, spice and a faint oily texture.
