Springbank – 12 Year Old Cask Strength (75cl, 57.2%)

This is a 12 year old cask strength Campbeltown single malt from Springbank, bottled at between 53.8% and 57.2% ABV depending on the batch, in a 75cl bottle. The whisky matures in a combination of 70% bourbon casks and 30% sherry casks, and is bottled without chill filtration. Springbank floor-malts its own barley and uses a 2.5 times distillation. The nose has honeycomb, toffee apple, dried fruit, hazelnut and marzipan, with sea spray and gentle peat smoke. The palate offers caramel, morello cherry, dark chocolate and citrus, with soft peat smoke and a thread of brine. The finish is long and warming, with spice, smoky char and dried fruit.
